Experimental characterisation of sloshing tank dissipative behaviour in vertical harmonic excitation

چکیده

The effort to reduce costs and environmental impact of modern commercial aircraft requires an ever better understanding physics, including the characterisation effective damping introduced on a structure by slosh dynamics. In this paper experimental vertical sloshing dissipative behaviour rectangular tank, representative scaled wing is addressed. Specifically, controlled electrodynamic shaker employed provide displacement means sine-sweep excitation. High acceleration makes free surface unstable, triggering nonlinear chaotic regime liquid stowed inside that experiences violent impacts with surfaces tank. obtained time histories measured accelerations dynamic forces are shown be directly related energy dissipated impacting fluid.
